The Wild Center (Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks) playground

The "Pines" is a playground at the Wild Center ( http://www.wildcenter.org/ - click on exhibits and the pines) . At first look, it doesn't look like much. But then you notice that logs are screwed into trees to make a support and sticks are stacked around.

and there are stumps in rows.

The jungle gym:

They anchored the logs well into the ground so they wouldn't roll.
There was a shelter area with stumps that the kids could use as furniture.

The fence was a row of sticks that the kids then used to build structures.

I watched while kids really got into it.

Sadie started building a structure.
